In reading Evil and the Justice of God, I felt very connected with the section discussing Job. Even if you have not read one paragraph, I would encourage you to read the last section of Chapter 2. It discusses Job, and his innocence. It compares Job, Israel, and The Servant in Isaiah. Even though it probably leaves you with more questions than you started with, I think it presents great points on God's role in evil, our role, and the devil's role. One very interesting thing he stated was that we, as a post-modern society, can fall into two equally detrimental holes. The first, giving the Devil too much credit, dwelling on his powers, and putting him as an equal but opposite opponent of God. Conversely, we easily discredit him and slough him off as a mere nuisance or even sometimes fictitious novelty. We need to find a balance; understand that he is at work, but that he is not as powerful as the Sovereign Lord.
